The fourth season of the Los Angeles Box Lacrosse League powered by Leverage Lacrosse kicked off over the weekend in Torrance. Heading in to this season expectations were high for this to be the best seasons yet, especially for the High School divisions as many of the player have been playing this more intense style of box since the inaugural LA Box season. The HS games didn’t disappoint! Some of the highlights include, Leverage OC squeaking out a 10 – 9 win against defending LA Box Lacrosse Champions in the Varsity division, Black Cat. Rampage from Orange County gave Cobras LA a shock going up early before falling 8 – 6. The JV division games were extremely intense and all the games could have gone either way.
The Sunday youth match ups started with the U11’s having some fun in the box. Many of the U11 teams have never played this Canadian style of box before but they quickly adjusted to the fast paced style. Every player came out of the box with a big smile on his face! In the U13 division, the Leverage U13’s looked fantastic! This group has been together for four years. When we first created the league, this group, then U9’s, played each other every Sunday. Their development and team chemistry has been extremely rewarding and fun to watch. These boys truly understand how to play real box! The U15 division has some big boys out there, who are not afraid to mix it up. If you didn’t know better, one might think these are Varsity players. The Cobras team looked very strong as did Leverage LA and Leverage OC. The sleeper in this division could be the Rampage/Beach team. If you have the chance, come out one Saturday to watch the HS teams or Sunday to watch the youth games! You will not be disappointed!
